SH President’s Message Summer/Fall 2014

It has been a very busy Summer and Fall for the Society for Hematopathology Executive Committee and sub-committees. Catch up with all that's been going on by reading the Summer/Fall 2014 SH President’s Message here.

Also, the proposed changes to the bylaws of the Society of Hematopathology are available for review here.  The members will be able to approve the changes in the annual meeting in March 2015 in Boston during USCAP.

 

DC3-PTCL The Diagnosis, Classification and Clinical Care of Peripheral T-cell Lymphoma

Knowledge of cutting-edge research is vital to the practicing pathologist’s ability to improve patient outcomes. To help pathologists stay up-to-date on the latest discoveries, the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) has developed an innovative education curriculum to address educational gaps in the diagnosis, classification and management of peripheral T‐cell Lymphoma (PTCL), a type of cancer that presents a particular clinical challenge.

SH President's Message Winter 2013 – Spring 2014


It was wonderful seeing many of you at the USCAP meeting in San Diego and getting a break from the cold winter (even in South Texas!). As of the Business Meeting on Sunday, March 2nd, the SH has a new slate of officers: Sherrie Perkins, President; Dan Arber, Vice-President-President Elect; and Magdalena Czader, Secretary – Treasurer. Kojo Elenitoba-Johnson is the new EXCO member-at-large and Leticia Quintanilla-Fend will continue for another four years as the European Association for Haematopathology (EAHP) representative to the SH.

Founders Award Honors Berard & Dorfman

We are pleased to announce that SH will begin accepting nominations for The Berard-Dorfman Founders Award. The award was established in 2013 to commemorate Drs. Costan W. Berard, and Ronald F. Dorfman, who co-founded the Society for Hematopathology (SH) in 1981.

Potential nominees would include:

  • Young Investigator: A young investigator (10 years or less since fellowship training) demonstrating excellence in research (basic or translational) based on a body of work or best paper.
  • Mid-Career to Senior Individual: Mid-career to senior individual who has demonstrated excellence in any or all areas of Hematopathology, including teaching, humanitarian contributions, and leadership.
